Writing an article isn’t an easy task for many writers, especially in the beginning, when experience is still limited and we don’t always get those bursts of inspiration that produce the best articles.

In this article, I’ll share my experience on how I write the best articles for my blog and how I find inspiration to write. This experience can help improve your journey as a writer.

Note: “This article was originally published on Medium.

Besides publishing articles on Medium, I also publish on my news blog, where you can follow content in Portuguese with English translation.

Essential tips for writing a quality article

I’ve gathered some super interesting tips to help you write your next viral article.

Be yourself and share your experience or research

This is one of the most important points for any writer. The first person to like your article has to be yourself. If no one else reads it, at least you will have read and approved it. After all, it’s your article.

Sharing your experience is one of the key points. Write about a topic that really interests you. This way, inspiration will come naturally and writing will cease to be a task and become a pleasure, something you would do “with your eyes closed”.

Example: I write several articles about freelancing because I am a freelancer, about travel because I like to travel and share some of what I know with the public. I also write about tips that I use or have used in some…” The moment, and how these ideas can be useful to other people. That’s what I call identity. Have one. Every artist has their own.

Structure your ideas

Many of the articles I write here are practically ready in my mind before I even start writing. This happens because I plan everything in advance.

Whenever an idea comes up, I set aside time to write it down in my notebook. During the week I structure the article and, on a quiet day, I bring it to life.

Tip: Always write down your ideas so you don’t forget them. Don’t rely solely on your memory, because it’s very easy to forget a good idea.

Review

There’s a saying that “haste makes waste.”

Always keep in mind that this article is being written, first and foremost, for you. So, put the rush aside and take the time to create what could be the best article of your life.

It’s like a painting: the artist takes time to take care of each technique and each detail before considering the work finished. Ready.

Respect the Rules

This is my last tip in today’s article: respect the rules.

You entered this world perhaps as an amateur, but you are about to become a professional. This will happen when you understand the rules that make a professional.

Just like in the world of writers who publish physical books, in the digital world there are also rules. The main one is perhaps grammar (very important). Then come the rules of the CMS itself and, of course, the best practices of On-Page SEO.

The article needs to have a structure capable of meeting the requirements of On-Page SEO to increase the chances of being found and read. This includes:

  • A good title, without being too long;
  • A well-written meta description;
  • A friendly URL;
    Not overusing H2 headings;
  • Respecting the correct hierarchy of H3, H4, H5 and H6 tags.

These are details that make a big difference.

And so ends the article.

I hope these tips can help you. If you liked it, leave a like, a comment, and share a tip that might help other writers too.

Bye! 👋
